Kick's Share of the GTA 6 Extended Look Co-Streams

Two months on, the Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiere is still the best real-world test of how GTA 6 viewing splits between platforms before launch. The numbers are worth a careful read, because for Kick they seem to contradict each other at first.

What happened on 27 August

Rockstar's roughly half-hour video premiered on Netflix at 3pm ET on Thursday 27 August 2026 and went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site at 9pm ET. It showed Jason and Lucia's story in Leonida with in-game footage captured on PS5. Thousands of streamers watched it live with their communities, on Netflix at first and on YouTube once it was free to view.

According to Streams Charts, as reported by Inven Global on 29 August 2026:

  • co-streams peaked at 3,970,738 concurrent viewers across streaming platforms, above Summer Game Fest 2026's peak of about 3.81 million;
  • 9,038 channels broadcast reaction streams;
  • those streams added up to 5,227,798 hours watched;
  • Twitch carried about 44% of hours watched, YouTube 34.8% and Kick 20.2%.

The streams were also hard on infrastructure: Netflix and Twitch both had problems under the load in the minutes around the premiere, widely reported on the day.

Third place on the night, first in GTA overall

Kick's 20.2% looks modest next to Twitch. Yet only three weeks earlier Streams Charts had reported that Kick had overtaken Twitch in GTA V viewing: 82.5 million hours watched on Kick in July 2026 against 49.5 million on Twitch, with Kick ahead on average GTA V viewers since April (Streams Charts, 4 August 2026).

Both numbers can be true because they measure different audiences:

  • GTA V viewing on Kick is driven by roleplay, long daily sessions on servers such as Respect RP, Vision RP and Creativos RP, mostly in Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish. That audience is loyal and watches for hours every day.
  • A trailer premiere is a one-off event that pulls in very large general and variety audiences. The single biggest co-streams that night, according to Streams Charts figures reported across outlets, belonged to Spanish creators IlloJuan and Rubius and to IShowSpeed, none of whom are Kick-first GTA roleplay streamers.
  • YouTube had the official upload. From 9pm ET the video itself was on YouTube, which helped YouTube's share.

In other words, Kick owns the everyday GTA audience, while big one-off moments still lean toward Twitch and YouTube, where the largest variety creators broadcast.

What it suggests for launch day

Launch day mixes both kinds of viewing. Variety creators will try the game on day one, which favours Twitch and YouTube. But roleplay creators and their communities will move into GTA 6 too, and on Kick that audience is the biggest anywhere. Our expectation, and it is only that: Kick's share of GTA 6 viewing will start closer to its Extended Look share and grow as the novelty fades and the daily-stream audience settles in. We will check that against published data after launch rather than predict figures now.

Reading these numbers with care

  • Hours watched and peak concurrent viewers are estimates by Streams Charts, not official platform data. Netflix does not publish comparable live figures, so the true audience for the premiere was larger.
  • Hours watched depend on stream length as much as audience size.
  • Shares refer to co-stream hours for that single event, not to all GTA viewing.
